Project Update: September 2025

5 September 2025

The City of Cockburn would like to thank the community for participating in the Duggan Park Enhancement consultation.

In June 2025, the City asked local residents in Hammond Park and users of Duggan Park to share their views on whether they would like the existing amphitheatre kept and repaired or removed and replaced with something new and exciting. We asked, if something new was to be installed what would park users like.

618 people visited the page and 92 people completed surveys. We also received 10 emails letting us know people’s views. It was fantastic to hear from so many people about their views and also for us to understand that this is a really special place to Hammond Park residents.

The message was loud and clear - 97% of respondents supported the removal of the amphitheatre to make way for something new. The top three features the community wanted to see in the space, ranked in order by highest weighted average* preference, were:

1. Pump track

2. Climbing structures

3. Ninja warrior course.

The City’s Parks and Environment team will make a final decision considering community feedback, environmental factors, accessibility and inclusion as well as budget and resources. The project page will be updated to include the next steps, project updates and further information.

A community feedback summary is available in the Document Library on the Comment on Cockburn project page.

*"Weighted averaging" is a method used to score the community's preferences. In this system, people's first choices get more points than their lower-ranked choices. By the end, the scores provide a clear view of which options are the community's favourites.
