Omeo Park, Port Coogee: Combined Restroom and Amenity Building
Share on FacebookShare on TwitterShare on LinkedinEmail this link
The southern end of Port Coogee is home to the Omeo shipwreck, Perth's most accessible shipwreck for snorkelling and the starting point of the Coogee Maritime Trail. As development of nearby land continues, a vibrant public and commercial Marina Village centre will form near this area.
However, there is a lack of public restrooms in this precinct. Restrooms play an important role in creating a welcoming City that supports visitation and activation (as well as reducing unhygienic behaviour).
Public amenities that serve the southern end of the Port Coogee Marina Village and the Coogee Maritime Trail are part of planning for the future of Port Coogee. Due to the popularity and high usage of the Coogee Maritime Trail and Omeo Park area, the City has commenced planning for a facility in the vicinity of Omeo Park.
The City recognises the importance of a facility that is well designed, aesthetically pleasing and sensitive to safety and security considerations.
Pending community feedback, the City's vision is to create a high quality, architecturally designed building that complements and enhances the area. There is an opportunity to incorporate features such as a multi-use alfresco space to facilitate seasonal vendors and storage space - should the community like to see this.
Your feedback will be used to help shape this amenity. Once we've developed a design, we'll share it and once again invite your comments.
