What is being proposed?

Western Power is currently determining the locations of ground mounted transformer and switchgear units essential for the management of power distribution in the new underground system. Your feedback is being sought on the proposed locations.

How did this project come about?

In January 2017, the State Government announced the City of Cockburn was successful with its application to convert the existing overhead electricity system in South Lake east to a new underground system. This project is a partnership between the City of Cockburn, Western Power and the State Government of Western Australia (through the Department of Treasury).
