The City is considering two traffic calming options near the Barrow Crescent pedestrian crossing. Have your say.


Site assessments of the Barrow Crescent pedestrian crossing in North Coogee have found that due to vehicle speeds, pedestrian sight-lines are below the recommended guidelines. The City is installing traffic calming devices to improve pedestrian safety.

    In June 2022, residents were informed of the alternative design option and were invited to identify their preference between the two.

    What we heard

    The City received 17 submissions. The majority of submissions were in favour of traffic calming measures being implemented.

    • 53% preferred Design A - the raised safety platform design
    • 17% preferred Design B - the speed humps design.
    • 30% of submissions preferred neither option.

    Consultation complete

    Feedback has been considered by road design engineers, with the outcome being to continue with Design A (raised safety platform).

    Next steps

    The City will finalise the design and arrange for construction expected by the second quarter of 2023.
