Consultation has concluded

22 June 2018

As part of its long-term planning, the City has been liaising with the relevant authorities about providing a future bus route into Calleya Estate at Treeby.

The timing will depend on sufficient residential development to provide enough passengers and a road connection to Jandakot Road and Solomon Road. Discussions with Main Roads Western Australia and the Public Transport Authority have determined that buses would use the Ghostgum Avenue and Armadale Road intersection to enter the estate.

With Main Roads confirming that a full access at Ghostgum Avenue and Armadale Road intersection will be retained, the proposed potential future bus routes in the Treeby Structure Plan will be implemented as the final option. See the map here.

An excerpt from the Structure Plan:

3.5.3 Public Transport provision for the Banjup DSP area is anticipated to include the following:

  • Continuation of route 518 along Armadale Road betweenMurdoch and Piara Waters.
  • A proposed route through the Calleya Estate between Jandakot Road and Armadale Road servicing the Calleya Neighbourhood Centre and primary school. This route is likely to ultimately connect Banjup with the Cockburn and Murdoch Stations.
  • A possible supplementary bus service between the Calleya Neighbourhood Centre and the eastern residential area and primary school, providing access to CockburnCentral. The WAPC Transport Assessment Guidelines for Developments (2006) suggest that it is desirable for at least 90% of dwellings to be within 400m of a bus route. The provision of the secondary bus route in the east of the DSP area would satisfy this objective.
  • Possible future bus rapid transit route between Armadale and Cockburn Central on Armadale Road, proposed as part of the Public Transport Plan for Perth in 2031. Access to the Cockburn Central Railway Station can be enhanced through extension of an east-west cycle / pedestrian link through the DSP area and connection to Dollier and Solomon Roads to the station.
