Have your say for a chance to win a GoPro Hero 7!*

Local residents, community groups, volunteers and not-for-profit groups play an important part in making Cockburn a strong, vibrant, safe and connected community. We are developing new strategies that guide how we support individuals and groups in making a difference in their community and we need your help.

Background

The City of Cockburn provides community development and volunteering support in a range of ways. Click here to learn more about community development, what we do, and who we support.

Our priorities are guided by the current Community Development Strategy 2016-2020. This Strategy has reached its end of life and it is time to develop a new Community Development Strategy for the future. We are also developing a new, separate Volunteer Strategy to reinforce the City’s commitment to volunteers.

Have Your Say

We want to hear your ideas on how we can help support volunteers, community groups and not-for-profits. Workshop attendees and survey participants will go in the running for a chance to win a GoPro Hero 7.

Feedback closes 4pm on Monday 4 January 2021.

Thank you for having your say on how we can support volunteers, not-for-profit groups and residents. Over 880 people visited the project page, 238 people completed the survey, and 147 people attended the community workshops and sundowner event.

Everyone who completed the survey or attended a workshop went into the running to win a GoPro Hero 7. Congratulations to Michael of Hamilton Hill who was the lucky winner.

You told us that you would like the City to:

    • Support community groups and organisations by providing funding, promotion and resources.
    • Connect community groups and organisations by organising get-togethers, networking opportunities and open days.
    • Promote volunteering opportunities and benefits, and make it easier to get involved.
    • Recognise and acknowledge volunteers through awards events, breakfasts and certificates.

An infographic summarising what you told us is here, and the full feedback report is here.

We are using your input to inform our new Volunteer Strategy and to refresh our Community Development Strategy. These strategies will guide how we support individuals and groups in making a difference in our community.
