Coogee Live - Proposed Event

Background

Should the City of Cockburn host a new annual event along our coastline for three days to showcase our strengths and talents?

We could call it Coogee Live and make it a free vibrant community event to promote the diverse and family friendly lifestyle in Cockburn. This could inspire and delight locals and visitors, making it a regional destination event where people attend year after year and look forward to it. The event, suitable for all ages and lifestyles, could promote the City of Cockburn as a fun and thriving place to live and work.

Coogee Live could be an entertainment trail from Port Coogee to Coogee Beach, from the marina and dive trail to the surf life saving club. Along the way we could have free large and small scale events that appeal to all - hawkers markets, artists-in-residence, light shows, projections, water activities and much more.

The event would be funded from existing Council funds and possible external grants.

Have Your Say

We're seeking your comments about whether the City should host such an event and how community groups, artists, dancers and others could get involved. What stories should we tell about our heritage?

This would be fantastic! The Australian Pop Academy would love to perform and keep the crowd entertained :)

This would be great idea!!!
I would love to see more of such activities in the city!!!

This would be a great idea. The area is getting more popular and now we have the shark net area, the stairs over the rocks to the beach, woolworths and the surrounding cafes. This would be a great idea. I am a massage therapist so I would certainly put my name down to be one of the stall holders at the markets. Buses go directly to the train station from here so transport is not a problem.

Great idea. I think it would need better parking options and public transport to the location to allow people from other areas to attend. Hawkers market is a good idea, live music and pop up bars.

What a great idea. The more exposure we can get for the area the more viable it becomes to complete the Port Coogee Marina Precinct with all of the associated apartments, shops and restaurants.

Great idea, lots of open space and fabulous beaches.

Great idea & fun for the family...
I also think a Colour Blast Walk on the beach like Lancelin would attract lots of people to come down for a fun day...!!

Great initiative ... this is what cosmopolitan Cities do. Have festivals and promote the Arts...

Great idea - I love living here and welcome more community events!

This is a great idea. The city needs to showcase what it has available and the lifestyle down here. I'm sick of the northern suburbs receiving all the glory. Let people know what a fabulous place this is to be.

This is a brilliant idea. It'll get the family down on a lovely location. Need to have adequate shuttle buses that's free which goes to/from a train station, or adequate free parking. Trouble with events is the access issues, but well done on this suggestion. Love having events in our area.
