Background

In 2024, the Metro Outer Development Assessment Panel approved the development of the Hammond Park Neighbourhood Centre. The minutes to that meeting can be found here.

The proponent is now seeking approval for stage two of that development. Details of which are detailed below.

About this application

The proposal has the following characteristics:

  • A 335m² expansion of the main shopping building at its south-eastern corner, creating three commercial tenancies fronting the proposed car parking area.
  • The development of a new 1,233m² building in the north-eastern corner of the site (previously identified for Stage 2 works), comprising four tenancies for medical and allied health uses.
  • The development of a four bay car wash facility in the south-eastern corner of the site, proposed to be operated Monday to Saturday between the hours of 7am and 7pm.
  • Minor modifications to the approved parking layout, resulting in a total of 369 car parking bays, including six ACROD bays, four online pick up bays, four wash bays, and 10 on-street bays along Whadjuk Drive.
  • Associated signage (total of 13 signs) which relate to the proposed commercial tenancies and the medical and allied health uses.

Further plans and details can be viewed in the Document Library.

About the assessment process

The City is not the decision maker for this application.

At the end of the advertising period, the City will collate community comments and prepare a Schedule of Submissions. The City will assess the application, considering the submissions and planning framework before making a recommendation to the Metro-Outer Joint Development Assessment Panel (MOJDAP). The MOJDAP will decide the outcome of this planning application.

A Development Assessment Panel (DAP) is an independent decision-making body comprised of technical experts and elected local government members. These panels determine development applications made under local and regional planning schemes in the place of the original decision maker. Visit the Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage website for more information.
