Background
The City of Cockburn has received a planning application for the redevelopment of Discovery Parks' Coogee Beach Holiday and Caravan Park.
The result of this application will be determined by the Western Australian Planning Commission (WAPC) and not the City. However, the City is keen to support the community to have their voice heard, and as such, will collect and collate comments from the community to be provided to the WAPC ahead of the determination.
The City will provide all community submissions to the Government for its consideration, as well as a recommendation to the WAPC.
Applications of this scale have, in the past, been determined by the Joint Development Assessment Panel (JDAP). However, as of 1 March 2024, the JDAP can no longer determine applications located wholly within Regional Reserves, as is the case with this proposal. As such, the WAPC is the sole decision maker.
The application proposes the following:
- The demolition of several cabins, the managers' residence, office, ablution blocks and camp kitchen
- Rebuilding of the office and manager's residence
- Relocation of several park homes
- A new Pool and Recreation Area
- 57 New Tourist Cabins.
The plans and supporting documentation are available in the Document Library.
