Consultation has concluded
We Asked:
Should the City establish more off-lead dog parks in suburbs where there are few or no off lead exercise areas? Consultation closed on 21 October 2016.
You Said:
A citywide survey found strong support for more off-lead exercise areas. A survey of neighbours living around the parks recommended fencing to provide a buffer between children and dogs at parks. See the consultation reports.
We Did:
The City of Cockburn, based on your feedback, has decided to allow dogs off-lead at the following locations:
Costa Park, Beeliar
Hobbs Park, Longson Street, Hamilton Hill
Milgun Reserve, Yangebup Road, Yangebup
South Lake Park, South Lake
This takes effect immediately. Council also decided to prohibit dogs at Ngarkal Beach at Port Coogee. Council decided not to proceed with an off-lead dog park at Princeton Park, Aubin Grove. An audit of signage and an education campaign will be carried out to help make dog owners aware of their responsibilities to have their dogs on lead in public at all times, except where designated as off-lead parks, and to collect all dog droppings.
Based on feedback, Council will seek to fund fencing of the dog-exercise areas at Milgun Reserve and Costa Park in future budgets.
Thankyou for your input into this project.
