Background

The City already has two fenced dog parks at Yarra Vista and Jan Hammond Park. In October 2016, a citywide survey found strong support for more off-lead exercise areas.

The WA Government has awarded $160,000 to the City for fenced dog parks in South Lake and Aubin Grove under the Local Jobs, Local Projects fund.

At its meeting in December 2017, Council decided to proceed with fenced dog parks at Briggs Street, South Lake and Durango Park, but to consult with the Yangebup Progress Association before making any decision about Milgun Reserve, Yangebup. See Agenda Item 18.2.
