Consultation has concluded

Background

Thankyou for your input on the City's timetable for upgrading and building new sports and community facilities within the City of Cockburn over the next 15 years. The final plan and feedback will go to Council's meeting on 13 December 2018 for discussion.

See the timeline for upgrades and construction of facilities here.

Here are our suggested priorities for the next few years:

  • Lakelands hockey and community facility development in South Lake
  • Treeby Reserve (provision of sports fields and community/clubroom building)
  • Wetlands Precinct in Hope Road, Bibra Lake
  • Frankland Reserve and sporting/community facility
  • Malabar Park BMX in Bibra Lake industrial estate
  • Beale Park redevelopment, Spearwood
  • Cockburn Coast oval (sporting fields component)
  • Dixon Park heritage assessment and business case

These priorities are based on an analysis of needs and gaps, population growth in various suburbs, the available funding and the City's capacity to deliver projects each year.

Sustained population growth has continued to place pressure on existing community, sport and recreation facilities in the City of Cockburn. In response, the City has worked closely with residents, community and sports groups over the last three years to draft this plan. Thank you for your input so far.

As part of the City-wide plan, we're investing more than $208 million in community facilities and reserves to support your collective needs and various activities.

See the original draft plan here and the Western Suburbs report, adopted by Council in October 2018, here. The projects in both of these reports have been merged into the timeline above.
