We would love to hear from you! We want to know your thoughts on our Draft Council Policy - Fireworks.

The City of Cockburn does not decide if fireworks can or cannot happen. This is the responsibility of the Department of Local Government, Industry Regulation and Safety (DLGIRS). This policy has been developed to set minimum standards to make fireworks displays safer, more environmentally responsible, and better managed. If the policy is adopted or not, applicants will be required to follow the DLGIRS process. The policy will assist the City to know how to respond when DLGIRS consults us for our view on the application. It will help the City to respond fairly and consistently.

The policy, if endorsed, will allow fireworks at future City events, provided they are approved through the DLGIRS process.

As a result of a City-commissioned Desktop Review and Impact Assessment, 2022 was the last time fireworks featured as part of entertainment at the Cockburn Rotary Spring Fair at Manning Park, Hamilton Hill.

The draft policy has been developed in response to a resolution form Council and initial feedback from industry and community groups.

We want your feedback on what this policy means for you, your family, your events, and your community.
