Background
Our community are the heart and soul of our City. Everything we do, from our events and services, policies and plans, is to ensure we work together to create a vibrant, connected and inclusive community. As we look to develop two of our overarching strategic documents here at the City, the Strategic Community Plan and the Public Open Space Strategy, we want to hear from our residents about their vision for the community.
We know our green spaces, our parks and natural areas are one of the reasons many folks chose to call Cockburn home. These public open spaces are key parts of our community, so when it came to shaping the Strategic Community Plan, it only made sense we ask about these two. We know how busy life can be and no one wants to spend hours doing surveys or giving their feedback, so we wanted to do what we can to save you time, whilst still making sure to get the valuable feedback we need from you to shape these two important City documents.
We've got a range of fun engagement activities planned this summer, so get involved, share your thoughts and have your say!
The Strategic Community Plan is a planning document required by Local Governments to help them plan for, design and deliver the services and initiatives they provide to the community.
With a need to review the plan every two years, the City is now looking to our community to understand what they love about Cockburn and what their vision is for the future of our community.
We want to understand what's working well, what services, activities and events you love, what you'd like us to focus on moving forward as well as any new areas to look into.
Public Open Space is the most visible asset the City is responsible for providing, managing and maintaining and provides a key opportunity for communicating the City’s vision and values. Public Open Space provides a number of different services, including opportunities for social and recreational pursuits, community development, improved amenity, green spaces and ecological functions.

This summer, while we are out and about, we will have fabric squares for you to write or draw on. We'd love to hear your key thoughts for the future of Cockburn. Once we've received the ideas, an incredible team from our Senior's Centre will work together with participants from the Youth Centre to create a quilt that will go on display in the City later in the year.
Share your vision for Cockburn by contributing to our Community Quilt!
Your ideas, hopes, and creativity will help shape a brighter future for our city.
Join in today! Let’s stitch our community together.
Find us out and about, complete a square and you will go in the draw to win a $50 voucher to Gateways Shopping City. Terms and Conditions are available here.
