Lamar Court closure and traffic on Brushfoot Boulevard

Consultation has concluded

Brushfoot Boulevard

Pursuant to Section 3.50 of the Local Government Act 1995, residents and motorists are advised that the City of Cockburn has closed the southbound entrance into Brushfoot Boulevard, Success on Monday 3 October.

This is at the roundabout at the intersection with Wentworth Parade adjacent to Boronia Park.

The southbound entry will remain closed until the opening of the Aubin Grove Rail Station in early 2017.

Please direct any inquiries to 9411 3444.

Issue

The closure of Lamar Court intersection with Russell Road on 26 August has resulted in complaints from residents about the volume of traffic on Brushfoot Boulevard and associated safety concerns including the proximity of the local primary school and pedestrian safety.

Facts

The Lamar Court/Russell Road intersection was always going to close as part of the structure plan for the area approved by the City of Cockburn many years ago. The major change between then and now is the introduction of the Aubin Grove Rail Station project, which, contrary to the previous structure plan, means Lauderdale Drive will no longer be continued to Russell Road.

Based on the design of the rail station project, there will be an intersection with traffic lights on Russell Road for the new Aubin Grove Train Station just to the east of Lamar Court and it would not work to have two exits on to Russell Road so close together.
