1. What will be designed and installed in the playground space?
We want you to tell us! We are seeking feedback on what you would like in the space. Based on your input, the consultants will create a Master Plan knowing what site elements are preferred and assess what is feasible.
2. Will the playground cater for younger and older kids?
Is that what your want? We propose to shift the playground closer to the road in a more visible, accessible and safe location. Do you agree?
3. How soon will the park be upgraded?
The CIty has outlined a timetable in its Community, Sport and Recreation Plan 2018-2033 which outlines funding priorities for the next 15 years. The park upgrade has been given high priority, with the project identified for detailed design and construction in 2020/21. This is subject to annual budget deliberations.
So far, the project is in the very early stages. Consultants are developing the Lot 8 Yangebup Road Master Plan and the Yangebup Lake and Little Rush Lake Master Plan. Consultation is now underway. The draft Master Plans will be presented to Council and the community next financial year for feedback.
4. What sports facilities will go in the park?
This site is regarded as a local level sports space. The City is discussing a shared use arrangement with the school so that students can use the oval during school hours and the wider community can access the oval for recreational use and overflow sports activities outside of school hours.
Both a junior football oval and a soccer field will fit on the site. Based on discussions with the school, there is a preference to install football posts. Temporary soccer nets can be used to play soccer.
