Background
The City invites you to provide comment on a review of No Parking restrictions in Barrington Street and Barberry Way, between Miguel Road and Cocos Drive, Bibra Lake. Have your say to help us decide whether to replace or remove the signs.
Parking restrictions were installed in mid-2006 and a recent inspection has identified that many of the original signs are missing. The City could simply replace those signs but we would rather get feedback from the affected business/property owners as to whether any restrictions are still needed, because so many signs need to be reinstated and the need for parking restrictions may have changed since 2006.
To comply with parking sign standards we are required to place the standard linear style parking signs no further than 75 metres apart on both sides of the road. This would require a lot of signs as that section of road is just over 1,100 metres long.
The alternative, if parking restrictions are still wanted, is for the City to use Area style parking signs which are typically used for parking precincts such as around the Aubin Grove Train Station. These are larger signs placed up to 200 metres apart, so fewer signs are needed.
If the majority of feedback that we receive supports the retention of No Parking restrictions, we will use Area type parking signs to reinstate/replace the parking controls. If there is only some support for localised No Parking restrictions, such as through the curved sections of road, linear type parking signs will be used to reinstate the parking controls.
