Phoenix Road upgrade near North Lake Road

Consultation has concluded

The City is investigating an additional right turn lane along Phoenix Road so that motorists entering North Lake Road have a smoother transition at busy times.

The $220,000 Council project includes:

  • An extra right turn lane along Phoenix Road
  • Modifications to the intersection with North Lake Road such as street lighting, roadside kerbs, median island and traffic signals.

Details of the proposed road works are shown in the attached plan.

Why?

The community living and working in the City of Cockburn is growing, especially around Bibra Lake, Cockburn Central, Jandakot and Banjup, so road improvements are necessary to accommodate the extra traffic and to reduce congestion.

How will this affect me?

• Traffic control and possible traffic congestion or delays for road users – please plan ahead and allow extra time for your journey or consider an alternative route if possible.

• Existing roads and lanes will remain open as much as possible during construction to keep traffic flowing; however, short closures of access will be required.

• Pedestrian access will remain available; however, routes may be diverted for safety.

• Construction impacts such as noise and dust will be controlled as much as possible.

• Working hours will generally be Monday to Friday 7am to 3pm although it is possible that work may be required outside of these times on occasion.

Please take care when walking and driving in the area and obey all traffic signs.

What will the benefits be?

After the road upgrades are complete, traffic flow and intersection waiting times will be improved in the area, along with pedestrian and cycle facilities.

When will road work and construction take place?

To be advised.

How do I find out more?

Any updates will be posted on this website.
