Background

The City of Cockburn has received a Development Application for tourist accommodation at 1L Semple Court, South Lake. Submissions on the proposal are invited.

  • The subject site has Western Australian Planning Commission (WAPC) approval to be subdivided into 67 individual lots and development approval to construct 67 Single Bedroom Dwellings (each with an additional activity room).
  • The proposal is to now change the use of all approved 67 dwellings to allow for short-term and long-term tourist accommodation which will be individually sub-leased by each owner.
  • All approved waste management (bin stores), landscaping and 23 visitor bays to remain as currently approved.

This consultation provides an opportunity for comment only. It should not be construed that Council approval will be granted. Should this proposal be refused, the existing approvals mentioned above may still proceed should the developer choose.

    Thank you for your submissions on this planning application. The public comment period was open from 9 December 2020 to 15 January 2021. A total of 25 submissions were received, and are currently being assessed in line with the relevant planning guidelines.

    Please be advised this planning application will be determined at the Ordinary Council Meeting on Thursday 11 March 2021. The meeting will be held at 7:00pm, within the Council Chambers, at the City of Cockburn offices at 9 Coleville Crescent, Spearwood. The meeting agenda is available on the City of Cockburn website. The public is welcome to attend.
