Proposed Names for Two Spearwood Parks

Background

At its November 2017 meeting, Council resolved to seek community input on the proposed names for reserves at 11 Karbuni Parade and 22 Cottage Parade, Spearwood:

  • “Kitj Park” for 11 Karbuni Parade
  • “Kooboolong Park” for 22 Cottage Parade

The City wrote to landowners within 200 metres of each park to seek their feedback.

The meaning of “Kitj” (pronounced “kitch”) is a spear, a traditional hunting instrument used by Nyungar people.

The meaning of “Kooboolong” (pronounced “koo-boo-long”) is a frog to reflect the nearby lake.
