Project update: September 2025

17 September 2025

The City of Cockburn looks after more than 220 playgrounds across our suburbs! To make sure they stay safe, fun, and up to date, we follow a renewal schedule where older equipment is replaced with fresh, modern play spaces.

As part of the 2024–25 program, eight playgrounds were identified for upgrades because their equipment had reached the end of its life or was no longer in good condition.

These renewals are guided by our Public Open Space Strategy 2014–2024, which helps us plan for vibrant, accessible community spaces that everyone can enjoy.

The City prepared multiple replacement design options for each playground and in July and August 2024, invited the community to let us know their preferred design by using preference voting.

Installation of new equipment was scheduled from October 2024 to June 2025, and we’re excited to share that all eight playgrounds have been delivered!

That means new, safe and exciting play spaces are ready to explore across Cockburn.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to the designs – your input has helped create playgrounds that reflect what our community wants and loves.
