Background

Consultation with 330 residents of North Lake found strong support for the closure of Progress Drive during construction of a roundabout on Bibra Drive as part of the Murdoch Drive Connection, to prevent hundreds of cars an hour driving down Progress Drive to access Farrington Road. See the feedback report here. Thank you to local residents for helping the City and the Main Roads Alliance make this decision and minimise disruption during these works.

Currently this section of Bibra Drive carries about 1,300 cars per hour during peak hours.

    Bibra Drive and Progress Drive have reopened on Wednesday 6 February 2019.

    Motorists are reminded to reconsider their travel through Bibra Lake, with Bibra Drive and Progress Drive both closed for all of January. The Metropolitan Road Improvement Alliance contractors are working extended hours over four weeks to build a roundabout on Bibra Drive near Farrington Road. This will allow major roadworks to be undertaken during school holidays and outside peak commuter times.

    Bibra Drive is closed from Hope Road to south of the Lakeside Recreation Centre during construction of a roundabout as part of the Murdoch Drive Connection.

    A detour is available along Hope Road to Progress Drive to Gwilliam Drive to North Lake Road.

    Progress Drive is closed at the Hope Road roundabout.

    Access for cyclists and access to the recreation centre remains open.
