Reconciliation Action Plan - Let's plan the next two years

The City is proud of the culture, history and First Nations people of Beeliar Boodjar. We are preparing our latest action plan for reconciliation in Cockburn and want your input. 

Reconciliation is about building and strengthening respectful and genuine relationships between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal Australians. Reconciliation Australia, which guides the development of Reconciliation Action Plans (RAPs), sees reconciliation as based on five dimensions that all work together: race relations, equality and equity, unity, institutional integrity and historical acceptance. 

About the RAP 

The City has had three RAPs:

• 2011-2013
• 2013-2016
• 2018-2021. 

The most recent was a ‘Stretch’ RAP which sets targets for employment, engaging with Aboriginal businesses and other actions. We are now preparing an 'Innovate' RAP for 2023-2025 reflecting on where the City is at with reconciliation and what else needs actioning. 

The RAP 2023-2025 will provide a framework with actions, timeframes and requirements to report, turning good intentions into measurable actions. The RAP reinforces the City's commitment to progressing reconciliation, increasing equity, and listening to First Nations voices.
