Background
The City is advertising a minor change to our Town Planning Scheme. This change is needed so our land zonings in sections of Treeby are consistent with the Western Australian government's zonings.
About the proposed change
The Western Australian government recently updated their document (Metropolitan Region Scheme) which identifies how land can generally be used in the Perth metropolitan area.
The zoning in some parts of Treeby (portions of Lot 5131 Jandakot Road and Lot 705 Armadale Road) were changed from 'Rural - Water Protection ' to 'Urban' under the Metropolitan Region Scheme.
We are required to follow the land uses outlined by the State Government and therefore have to make some updates to our documents to ensure we are compliant.
Specifically, an amendment to our Town Planning Scheme is required, including updating the lot classification from ‘Resource’ to ‘Development’ on the Scheme Map. The specific changes are detailed in the Document Library. This means that this land can be developed for other means like residential housing, instead of resource purposes (the site was formerly a brick quarry).
Any amendments to the Town Planning Scheme must be advertised to the public, who can make comments on the proposal in the form of a submission.
