Draft Western Suburbs Sports Study
Consultation has concluded
Background
In 2017, the City's draft Community Sport and Recreation Facilities Plan identified the need to plan for recreation for suburbs west of Stock Road which face significant population growth from 34,108 to 57,211 people over the next decade. The City appointed Dave Lanfear Consulting to work with sporting and community groups to develop the plan. This involved:
- Extensive document review
- Demographic analysis
- Audit of existing infrastructure and facilities
- Community consultation
- Facility trends analysis
- Analysis of opportunities to acquire additional public open space
- Development of Master plans for each reserve
- Estimated costings for each development
During the study of Wally Hagan/Dixon Park, a number of opportunities and constraints were identified so three potential development options have been proposed. The preferred option is Option 1 (subject to discussion with State Government agencies, with Option 3 as the next preference).
The overall costs to implement the upgrades are estimated at $64.65 million.
