Thank you for your input and helping to shape the new Treeby Community and Sports Centre.

Background

Based in the town centre on the corner of Torwood Avenue and Clementine Boulevard in Treeby, the new community and sport centre will service the forecasted 7,750 plus residents living in Treeby and 3,200 plus residents in Jandakot. Its location next to cafes, shops and other town centre attractions will support the development of a vibrant community hub, while providing flexible and functional community spaces that offer a variety of different uses to the community.

The City has been working with the community, key stakeholders and a reference group to develop the designs for the new centre.

You Said

In early 2019, we asked our community what spaces the Community and Sports Centre should provide and what they would like to see. Input from residents groups, the local community and Stockland have been used to develop a draft design for this new facility. Feedback highlighted a desire for open space for playing sports, indoor rooms for all cultures and ages, opportunities for fitness classes and sessions, community events and music practice. There was a preference for space where children can play and public artwork that has an environment theme. Click here to view the summary (community feedback phase 1).

This feedback helped to shape the concept design for the New Treeby Community and Sports Centre. The concept design was advertised from late April to late May 2020, and your comments on the concept design were invited. The page was visited over 1000 times and artist impressions of the building were viewed over 400 times. The majority of feedback on the concept design was positive, with 96 per cent of the 27 respondents indicating they were happy with the concept. We Did

The Treeby Community and Sports Centre will be a district level facility that is intended to serve a variety of local activities with multifunctional spaces that can be booked, such as wet spaces for arts and crafts. The facility also includes clubrooms, change rooms, a playground and toilets to enable sport and recreation activities, as well as personal trainers and fitness instructors to book and run health and wellbeing sessions.

The new Treeby Community and Sports Centre will complement the nearby Cockburn ARC (located less than 4km from Treeby, which is a regional level facility that caters for widespread sporting and recreational needs such as swimming, basketball and badminton). Please read the FAQ or detailed engagement summary to find out more.

Detailed design of the new Treeby Community and Sports Centre will be undertaken in 2020, before construction commences in mid 2021. Completion of the new Treeby Community and Sports Centre is anticipated in 2022.
