Background

In 2013, the City of Cockburn supported a community proposal to rename a part of Munster to South Coogee. The name was unsuccessful in receiving State approval as it replicates the name of an existing New South Wales suburb.

An alternative name, Lake Coogee, was proposed by a local community group and received wider community support.

Munster residents were invited to attend a community workshop in June 2019 to share their views or complete the online survey. The City thanks the local community for their valued input. A summary of community feedback can be found here.
