The City of Cockburn is investigating if there is a suitable place for a small 8m x 8m basketball pad in or near the Eliza Ponds Estate area in Coogee/Spearwood and wants to hear your views.

We've identified two locations in the catchment area where the site's unique attributes, such as ground levels and drainage, make installing a basketball hoop possible. However, we want to hear your thoughts on the overall suitability of these locations:

Background

The City has received requests from residents who live in or near Eliza Ponds Estate in Coogee/Spearwood. They would like a basketball pad to be closer to their neighbourhood, as the nearest hoops are about a 10-15 minute walk away, either south of King Street (at Len McTaggart Park) or east of Rockingham Road (at Edwardes Park). Depending on the community's feedback, the City has a small budget to install a basketball pad, about 8m x 8m in size at a suitable location (refer to similar examples in the Photo Library).

Next steps

At this stage, we have not decided anything. After we hear from our community, we will determine if either location will work for an 8m x 8m basketball pad.
