Between 2 November 2022 and 13 February 2023, the City gathered feedback from residents to inform the design and location of the new playground. Over 60 people had their say via our online forms, email, and pop-up workshop.

Thank you to everyone who participated.

    What our community said

    • Location – Both options are generally supported, though Azure Terrace is preferred.
    • Age groups – Equipment should suit all ages. However, pre-school (2-5 years) and primary school age groups (5-12 years) are most important.
    • Equipment – Slides, swings, climbers, flying foxes, and balance elements are popular. Sport-related equipment like ninja walls, goals or hoops may best suit older children. Shade is highly valued.
    • Themes – Possible ideas include boats and castles or floor murals with a traffic roundabout or maze.
    • Materials – Natural materials like wood, rocks, and stone suit the area.
    • Inspiration – Playgrounds respondents find most attractive are the C.Y. O’Connor Beach pirate ship playground (North Coogee), Macquatha Close sea-container playground (North Coogee), and Bibra Lake Regional Playground (Bibra Lake).
