The City of Cockburn is exploring the installation of a basketball pad and hoop at Spearwood Skate Park located at the Southeast corner of Market Garden Park. We want to hear your views on the opportunities, challenges and solutions to help inform our next steps.

Background

The City has received community requests to install a basketball pad, around the Market Garden Park. We have reviewed possible locations in the area, and due to its size, ground conditions and existing infrastructure, the Spearwood Skate Park is the only feasible location in the area. Currently, the skate park has a skate track, pump track, car park, playground, and picnic setting.

Pending the community's feedback, the City has the capacity to install a basketball pad, about 8m x 8m in size (refer to similar examples in the photo library). We have no plans to change any existing infrastructure of the skate park - the basketball pad would only be added as an additional feature.

Next steps

At this stage, we have not decided anything. Community feedback will help inform the next steps.

Should the project proceed the positioning and design of the basketball pad would be guided by community feedback, as well as budget and site constraints.
