The City of Cockburn values the privacy of its customers and stakeholders. The City views the protection of an individual’s privacy as an integral part of its commitment towards complete accountability and integrity in all its activities and programs.

The City has developed a draft Privacy Policy which is consistent with key provisions of the Australian Privacy Principles (APP) under the Commonwealth Government’s Privacy Act 1988.

The aim of this policy is to ensure that the collection, use, handling, storage, protection and disclosure of personal information is governed by the privacy principles within the policy.

    The draft Privacy Management Policy was advertised for 28 days between 11 June and 9 July 2021.

    During this time, the project page received 218 visitors and the draft policy was viewed 101 times. Seven people (all of whom are Cockburn residents) submitted feedback or asked questions about the policy.

    Submissions fell into three primary themes or topics:

    • Individual preferences around collection and distribution of personal information (3)
    • Questions/further clarification required (3)
    • Policy scope suggestion (1)

    What will happen next?

    Submissions have been reviewed and considered.

    The policy requires no significant changes and therefore will be presented to Council for adoption at the Ordinary Council Meeting on 9 September 2021.

    This meeting will be held at the City of Cockburn Administration (9 Coleville Crescent, Spearwood) from 7pm. Anyone is welcome to attend. A copy of the Agenda will be available on the City of Cockburn website the Friday prior.
