Project Update: May 2026

8 May 2026

Thank you to everyone who provided feedback on the review of the City’s Fire Control Order earlier this year. We heard a wide range of perspectives from residents, property owners, community groups and stakeholders, and your feedback has helped highlight just how important this issue is to our community.

Following the engagement process and further internal review, the City has made the decision to continue progressing the review of the Fire Control Order, changes will not be implemented for the upcoming fire season.

Over the next 12 months, the City will focus on reviewing and strengthening internal operational procedures and implementation considerations. This was a key theme raised during the consultation, alongside requests for greater clarity, consistency and communication for residents.

The City will continue working with stakeholders as the review progresses, with the aim of bringing forward a more informed and practical approach for future consideration as part of the 2027/28 fire season planning.

In the meantime, the current Fire Control Order requirements remain in place.

Thank you again to everyone who took the time to contribute feedback and participate in the process.
