Project Update: Netball courts floodlighting and resurfacing

The eight new 25-metre floodlight towers are progressing well, with final testing happening in advance of them being powered up and commissioned.

Previously, only eight courts were lit to training standard. The new towers will allow all 20 courts to host evening games and training.

The upgrade is being delivered by PEAP Contractors Pty Ltd and is supported by the Western Australian Government’s Club Night Lights Program and PlayOn WA.

As part of the works, trees along the northern boundary that were impacting the courts and fencing were removed. To offset this, the City will plant 12 new trees within Success

Reserve and undertake dieback and weed treatment in the area.

What’s next

On 23 February, works to resurface all 20 courts began. Practical completion is expected by 10 April (weather permitting).

The new surface will use Rebound Synpave, which is designed to provide a durable, high-performing surface for regular community competition and training.

Resurfacing works are being delivered by Sports and Recreation Surfaces.

The 2026 netball season will kick off in May, with the upgraded lighting and new surface ready to support a big year ahead.
