Berrigan Drive upgrade

Consultation has concluded


The City engaged Tracc Civil to complete a major roads project in August 2016 to upgrade Berrigan Drive from the Kwinana freeway to Jandakot Road.

The $7 million project involved extending Berrigan Drive for 700 metres and changing the roundabout into traffic lights, plus improvements to Dean Road and construction of Pilatus Street for 1.7 kilometres.

The completed project included:

  1. Roadworks from Berrigan Drive from the freeway to the roundabout

  2. Construction of Pilatus Street, from Berrigan link to the Jandakot Airport

  3. Intersection construction, Dean Road, Jandakot Road and from roundabout to Berrigan link of Pilatus

  4. Transforming the roundabout into traffic signals.

The works included:

  • Construction of intersection and installation of temporary traffic signals and traffic management before the new traffic signals become operational

  • Removal of debris and replanting of trees

  • Excavation and other earthworks in the road reserve

  • Construction of roads, footpaths, crash barriers, bollards and erection of street signs

  • Reconstruction of road pavement and thickening of asphalt

  • Construction of stormwater drains, pits and basins

  • Construction of uniform fences and fences to private property

  • Relocation and construction of underground utilityservices

  • Pegging for street lighting works

  • Relocation of water bore pump and switch gear and re-connection of reticulation system

  • Underpass modifications

  • Removal of existing road (200m of northern Berrigan Drive) for conversion into park land

  • Liaising with relevant bodies to identify and relocate power, gas and telecommunication services

  • Traffic management, including night works, to keep one lane open at all times

  • Modification to parking bays and relocating car park lighting poles at the intersection of Jandakot Road and Berrigan Drive (north)

  • Construction of storm water drainage outlet sump and cross overs to private property
