Project update: June 2024

6 June 2024

Thanks for everyone who participated in the Community, Sport and Recreation Facilities Plan engagement. We heard from over 300 people, including those from a range of community clubs and sporting groups.

The City received plenty of feedback relating to specific facilities, including upgrades to community centres, reserves, and club rooms, as well as more general feedback highlighting important focus areas such as libraries, dedicated arts and culture facilities, a golf course, and the Wally Hagan Stadium Redevelopment.

Check out the Community Feedback Summary in the document library for a full breakdown what we did and what we heard throughout the engagement.

After reviewing this community feedback, alongside City requirements, budgets and other considerations, the City has developed a draft Community Infrastructure Plan (recently updated name from the Community, Sport, Recreation and Facilities Plan). This draft plan will be presented to Council at a Council meeting in June. Should initial endorsement be received, the draft plan will then be provided to community for feedback to ensure the plan is in keeping with the needs and vision of community.
