Completion of final design

In late 2020, we sought community feedback on a draft design for upgrades to Hope Road, between Bibra Drive and Pausin Crescent. Thank you to everyone who provided their feedback.

Since closure of the public comment period, the City has reviewed the draft design. This process is now complete and a copy of the final design can be found in the Document Library.

What design changes were made?

The following changes were made as a result of community feedback:

• Realignment and narrowing of the path to:
  • Navigate around mature trees (no mature trees will be removed);
  • Minimise impacts on the playground; and
  • Reduce the size requirements of the retaining wall to preserve a mature tree.

Additionally, the following changes were made upon advice and consultation with the Police Children's Crossing Unit and school:

• Repositioning of the childrens crossing, and
• Installation of signage.

What will happen next?

The final design will be presented to Department of Transport and Main Roads WA for approval. If approved, a contractor will be engaged to build the path and carry out any other associated works.

When will works take place?

Works are expected to commence in mid-2021 and will take approximately one month to complete, weather and site conditions permitting. Working hours are 7am to 5pm, Monday to Friday. From time to time, some out of hours works may be required. In these cases, the contractor will notify impacted properties.

What work activities are involved?

A variety of works are involved in the construction process. Activities may include, but are not limited to:

• Installing fencing around the work area
• Moving and compacting earth
• Pouring concrete
• Installing footings and retaining wall bricks

To carry out these works, some temporary path or lane closures may be required. Signage will be in place to guide commuters.
