At their October Ordinary Council Meeting, the City presented a report to Council which showcased the completed actions, initiatives and learnings as part of the City’s previous Youth Services Strategy from 2017 – 2022. Minutes from the meeting can be found on the City of Cockburn website.

Council also reviewed the findings from the recent community consultation activities undertaken by Youth Affairs Council of WA (YACWA) that was delivered in order to better understand the needs and aspirations of young people and their support networks in order to inform future action. A document detailing themes and recommendations from the consultation was noted by Council, however the development of the next Youth Services Strategy has been deferred until Council has reviewed other existing strategies and plans.

Whilst no new formal Youth Strategy will be developed and implemented at this stage, the Youth Services team will continue to support the young people in the community, by providing activities, services and events as per their usual operations.
