About the policy
This policy (Local Planning Policy 5.20 - Development in Local Reserves) identifies a set of criteria that exempts certain works at local reserves or parks from needing to undergo the development application process. Therefore, where a proposal meets the provisions of LPP 5.20, no development approval is required.
Currently, every development at a local park or reserve, regardless of the size and nature, must apply for a development application. This can create unnecessary delays. This policy aims to deliver community amenities and infrastructure quicker by removing the development application requirement for policy-compliant works.
LPP 5.20 applies to all development proposed on Local Reserve – Parks and Recreation and Local Reserve – Public Purpose sites within the City of Cockburn.
The intent of LPP 5.20 is to exclude certain types of development from requiring development approval.
