Consultation has concluded

Background

The City has started the background work for a new Local Planning Strategy and Local Planning Scheme. In early 2018 we sought your feedback on key planning issues. We drafted a set of 13 local profile papers covering key topics, as one important part of the Local Planning Strategy document. As a starting point, these provide background information and highlight the planning implications for the City of Cockburn.

Your input at this early stage has been crucial to ensure we are capturing the key issues. A summary report has been prepared which sets out the major comments.

What Happens Next?

Next we’ll focus discussions on the key issues affecting our City and together continue planning Cockburn. You can read more about the progress of the new local planning strategy and scheme here.

The draft local profile papers will need updating to reflect matters which may have evolved in the past few months, such as Perth and Peel @3.5 million and the suspension of the Strategic Assessment of the Perth and Peel Region, to name only two.

Each paper will be reviewed to ensure:

  • Removal of any policy statements
  • Resolution of any conflicts between other papers
  • Highlighting of matters where there may be an implication for any of the ‘Planning Investigation Areas’ and acknowledge these are to only be a statement of fact, and not taken as obstructing the WAPC to carry out its investigation of the areas involved.

Then we’ll build on the community discussion to date, with our key issues in mind, talk about our strategic goals, aspirations and plans for future growth and prosperity.
