Help Shape the Port Coogee Marina Expansion

Consultation has concluded

The City of Cockburn is inviting your feedback on a Business Case and preferred draft Concept Plan to expand Port Coogee Marina.

Background:

The Marina was originally designed with a future expansion in mind, to meet the demands of the growing community. With current occupancy rates above 90%, growing wait lists for boat bays and more residents set to call the nearby Maraboo Island development home, now is the opportune time to progress this journey.

What has happened so far:

To begin the journey, the City sought feedback on what needed to be considered as part of the expansion process. The City engaged industry professional consultants to then develop a Business Case and preferred Draft Concept Design (the preparation of a Business Case is a requirement of the Local Government Act 1995).

The Business Case and preferred draft Concept Design were approved in September 2019 for public advertising. We are now seeking your feedback on the Business Case and preferred Draft Concept Design.

What will happen next:

Following the public comment period, the Business Case and preferred Draft Concept Design will be reviewed.

The Plans will then be put to Council to consider for endorsement in December 2019.

Should Council endorse the Plans, the City will begin the detailed design process.

About the Business Case and Preferred Draft Concept Design:

The preferred draft Concept Design and Business Case propose additional facilities for the Marina, such as boat bays, parking bays and waste facilities. The design is required to meet the Australian Standard Design for Marinas (which outlines the number of land and marine facilities needed to support an expanding marina business).

It is envisaged that the proposed upgrades will be undertaken in two stages.

Key features of the preferred Draft Concept Design include:

  • 2 x Bin store areas
  • Rated Loading area for boats
  • Reconfigured fueling facility
  • Designated parking area (to be reviewed in future)
  • 1 x 30m Boat Bay
  • 1 x 22m Boat Bay
  • 27 x 20m Boat Bays
  • 11 x 18m Boat Bays
  • 1 x 16m Boat Bay
  • 53 x 15m Boat Bays
  • 3 x 14m Boat Bay
  • 1 x 12m Boat Bay
  • 5 X 10m Boat Bay
  • 11 x Jetski Bays
  • Perimeter community board walk on the southern end of Maraboo Island
  • Removal of 3 existing bays to comply with fairway widths
